Clinic appointment for an adult

Please bring the following to your appointment:

o  Referral letter- from your GP or Optometrist.
o Medicare card, DVA card, Pension card, Health fund card.
o List of current medications including eye drops.
o Any current glasses (for distance or reading).
o A pair of sunglasses or hat.

At the clinic:

On arrival please present yourself at the reception desk to notify our friendly staff of your arrival.

Our orthoptist will take a history and perform age appropriate eye test for vision accuracy and eye movements. At the conclusion of the orthoptist’s assessment, eye drops will be instilled to dilate the pupils in order for the Ophthalmologist to perform a comprehensive eye examination.

Once instilled, you will be asked to take a seat in the waiting room for the dilating drops to work. Dilating eye drops may take up to 1 hour (especially for darker coloured eyes) .

Once your pupils have been dilated, the ophthalmologist you have booked your appointment with will complete the assessment. Your ophthalmologist will perform a thorough assessment explaining his/ her findings, any implications and treatment.

Information will be communicated to your referring doctor or optometrist.

Please be mindful that dilating drops will blur your vision and your pupils will remain dilated for 4 to 6 hours. You may find it difficult to read and drive. Please bring someone on the day who will be able to drive you home if you are planning to drive to the centre.

Fees are payable at the end of the appointment by cash, EFTPOS, Visa or Mastercard.  We do not accept American Express.
